Scan with a good antimalware software. ! Malawarebytes, Spyhunter, HitmanaPro, Comodo etc are well known antimalware and mitigation tools for consumer PCs

If you wanna do it manual like a pro, then thefirst thing you should do is disable malaware persistence. Agains its depend upon the malware, if its a ransomeware, disabling persistence may cause harm. Part from that most of malware can be handled by disabling persistence. You can use tools like Autoruns(Autoruns for Windows - Windows Sysinternals), where you can find all persistence techniques and disable them. This tool also help you to locate malwares random paths as well. You should be able to identify malware from the list, thats upto you. Disabling a non-malware service will crash your PC

Better to start the system in safe mode so that there won't be deadlocks.

If you are logged on and wanted to downgrade the user permissions use tool like Process haker. This will help you to identify the process and disable or downgrade.

I would restart in Safe Mode with Network so that I can download a free antimalware program. I usually use the free version of Malwarebytes but you can also try SpyHunter or any other that you can trust. Run a scan and fix any issues reported. Restart your computer in Normal Mode, change your system password just in case. And, I would run a deep scan again to make sure that there is nothing to worry about. Good luck.
