Here are the some difference :

  1. SSH means Secure Shell; SSL means Secure Socket Layer
  2. SSL requires a public key infrastructure (PKI) and a certificate authority (CA)
  3. SSH is used to encrypt communication between two computers; SSL is used to encrypt communication between browser and server.

Moreover SSL (Secure Socket Layer) & SSH (Secure Shell), both are similar protocols it's used for cryptography tunneling protocols and aims to secure confidential data.

Here is the contrast between the SSH and SSL

SSH - Securing computer networks

SSH is a cryptographic system convention intended for verifying system administrations and correspondences over an unbound system by utilizing login and secret phrase validation.

SSL – Securing web data transfers

SSL is a cryptographic convention which guarantees the encryption/decoding of the data traded between the customer (program) and the server (site).
